-8 at the ranch. The sheep didn't want to spend any more time than necessary outside gnawing on their bale of hay before heading back into their freshly cleaned barn. Battling the Obamacare idiots today. They could screw up a wet dream. SSDD.

Do you need to weigh that hay before and after the sheep so they can find a way to tax the used portion?

Off to a funeral in a little while.   Always a little sad, even though this guy was 93 and had a good life.  It is still short.    Friend of mine's father.

I'm back.   Fortunately the inurnment (yes, that what they called it) was in the columbarium at the church and was over quick.   Sun was shining and not too much wind so it wasn't too painful from a cold standpoint.

Nice service.

Good for you Del.  Funerals are never fun.  I have been to a few where I was very sad going in and the Pastor said such good things that I did feel much better leaving.  SO I guess those are a good funeral.

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: Sssshhhhh! Don't give them any ideas! They'd want a weight on the sheep too I bet. Probably a before and after on the one's we eat while they're at it. On second thought, many times I've thought about mailing them a bag or two of excrement to express my opinion!  :happy1:

Yup just plain cold.  It was 3 above when I went out to stoke up the wood burner in the garage last night and with the full moon it was beautiful.  Sure wish I didn't even have to leave the house on these cold days.  But once I get going it feels good.  Well sort of.   :-)   The weekend will be here soon.  I've heard they are staging houses here getting ready for the big push.  They gotta be loving this cold weather.

Good morning all. Talk about the wind :bs: the accu weather is saying gust up 32 today out of west. Button down the hatches boys and gals. Most of the snow on the lake will now be on the shores of upper red lake with some impressive drifting around the stacked ice on the lake. Everyone be safe in that wind chill today

morn, er I mean afternoon! Breezy here also. Have had some gusts to 30 mph. Some blowing and drifting snow. Temp has stayed around 4 above or my thermometer is broken. Tough day at the vet's office. Our old Border Collie Fudgie hasn't been eating her food well lately and yesterday she peed on her pillow leaving an odor that smelled like rotting meat. She's 13+ mind you. Was thinking she maybe had some kind of a UTI or bladder infection. She's had them before and with a temp of 103 that would make sense. The vet discovered a large tumor in her abdominal cavity so he was convinced that she'll be a goner in a matter of a short time. We'll see. Got some pills to give her to manage the fever as well as counteract any infection which wasn't detected in the urine sample. There are some things that don't quite add up. She'll still eat stuff like leftovers and treats just fine. She craps and pees in the yard, and ambles around pretty much like normal. If I lived to 93, I could only hope to eat treats, crap and pee in the yard and move around like that! Part of the issue (I think) is I didn't come home to let her out at noon the past several days so it's been 8 or 9 hours without being let out. Too long for an old dog. I also don't know how long that tumor has been there or how rapidly it's growing. Not saying the vet isn't right, just that I'm giving the dog the benefit of the doubt while she still has some quality of life. She's been one helluva gate watcher and I at least owe her that much.

So sorry to hear about the pooch, Dotch. Know all about that. Give her the benefit of the doubt, and she'll let ya know what's right and when. Docs ain't always right. Especially some of the MAYO ones.   :censored:  Friggin' chillish down here, too, and howling winds at 35-40 mph this afternoon. left Doc's office and was blowing so hard, I had to yank the truck door twice to get it open...really. Blew me around a bit on the highway..glad I wasn't driving a 42 footer. No thanks.

Thanks Reb. I knew you'd know exactly what I'm going through. I got some cheap weenies on the way home to hide some of the pills in if necessary. May not need to use them but just in case. Otherwise she can have them as treats cuz I sure ain't eating them!  :happy1:

Ya darn Dotch.  Such a hard thing.  Worst decision a person has to make is when???  Hate it.  Then I think, should I go through it all again?  BUT then the ol line of "better to have loved and lost than to not love at all" comes to mind.... I apply it to my pets and helps me some.  Then I get another one...

Sounds like warm up to the 20's may happen next week.  I am sure looking forward to that.  High of -9 here on Sat.  Will be working on things in the garage and house.  Not wanting to fight that much cold weather yet other than throw another log on the fire...

Sorry to here about your dag Dotch. I have never lost a pet from old age. My good buddies dog Wes died of old age and he just went out one morning headed to the woods and went to sleep under a tree. Not  the worst way to go. I also have a good friend  Ole that is 76 and has been a trophy hunter, trapper, commercial  fishermen in Alaska etc. I expect they will find him leaned under a tree in the woods when he goes also.

-10 here this a.m. at chore time. Thank you for all the kind thoughts. Fudgie's hanging in there. Doesn't seem to be changing much that I can see. If anything she seems more active so go figure. After success yesterday embedding the pills in the weenies, she figured out how to fish the pills out of the weenies this a.m. so am back to jacking them down her throat. Recall my Mom saying that the dog was a pill when it came to taking pills. Not my first rodeo when it comes to putting stuff down a critter's gizzard so she's met her match.  :happy1:
