Mornin guys, 38 with some light rain here & we might make it all the way up to 40. We're head back home tomorrow, so today we'll be packing the car as we like get going pretty early. I like to be through the metro by around 9:30-10, so that puts in Clear Lake by about noon. Yeah, I too hope all goes well with your surgery, LPS. I could be out of touch for a couple days, as there'll be more than a couple Windows updates to do.  'Bout it here, have a good day.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 36 at choretime heading for a high in the mid-40's. Rain coming in this afternoon they say. Got sheep loaded w/o a hitch yesterday. Wife took off for Louisville this a.m. so I'm unsupervised now until the 21st. Speaking of Windows updates & confuser stuff gunner, my guru stopped in yesterday. He completed a couple downloads that may or may not solve my keyboard issue, a newer keyboard driver update & a bios something or other. So far it seems to be working OK but he loaned me an older external keyboard to use in case it acts up again. It'll point us in the right direction at least. He's a customer as well so he paid his bill while he was at it. Super handy guy to have around for dummies like me. Good luck Barry! Hopefully mama has been working out to pick up the slack while you're healing. Don't do like my friend who decided he was all better before the doc told him it was OK to start doing chores & lifting stuff. He wound up having a do-over.

This is my third hernia but they have all been in different spots.  That is a good thing.  I think do-overs are harder to do with damaged material to work on.  I will be as careful as possible.  I can't lift more than 15 lbs until Jan 1.  That is a long time of not doing much.  I hope my firewood pieces don't weigh that much.  I will weigh some of them.  Still raining here.  We are at 1/2'' now.

Mike the wife thought it was pretty funny that you and her agreed about the tree.  LOL  Well I just went to look at it and it pushed off the bldg easier than I thought.  I used my handy electric saw and cut up the branches in my path to the river.  Then I weighed one of the heaviest chunks of wood in my split pile.  A big split chunk of ash.  It is only 9.4 lbs so I will be ok loading up the wood burner in a week or two.  :sleazy:

Morning boys. 41 here this morning and supposed to be 40 something. Came home from deer camp yesterday afternoon. So I will hunt the rest of the season on the state land up by home. We had a pretty good run down at deer camp. Went 6 for 7 and only one doe. Bucks were moving. We had a 6 point, 3 8 points and big 10 points that the kid got opening morning. Good luck on the surgery today Barry. Have a good one boys.

Morning boys.  It is 39 and another wet day here.  Heading in to the pain mill at 9.  Glad it is early.  That is a long time to go without food or drink.  I always tell them to not be stingy with the knock out drugs.  LOL  Man that is some good hunting JB.  Well you all have a good one.

Mike, I did stop at Eldons yesterday and picked up two packages of boneless pork butts for $1.49 a pound. Happy with that. Hunt this morning then head home to pick up hides again and head back up here again tomorrow. JB sounds like you guys did well. We have a spike, a nine and a ten point in the barn. That’s for 12 people hunting. Got to go, later…. :happy1: :happy1:

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 42 at choretime heading for a high in the upper 40's. .06" of rain at the ranch & .14" in Bugtussle proper the past 24 hrs. Cloudy and dreary so far. Geriatric car club meeting tonite so need to get mentally prepared for that. Christmas party planning on the agenda. Shouldn't take long but it probably will. Poppy & I survived the 1st nite unsupervised. Hopefully I can teach her how too make G&T's. I'll probably need one or several after tonite's meeting.

Going to head out and put up 83 more hides, then back home for a shower and back up North until Sunday. We will see. My SIL dropped an eight pointer yesterday afternoon so that takes the count to four in the barn. Later...... :happy1: :happy1:

Mornin boys from south of the border, 30 with a dense fog here & we should see 54. We rolled down the driveway at the lake a lttle before 5:30 & we were in Clear Lake by 11:30 yday. Made 3 stops in Mason City & got here about 1:30. We found 2-3 things in the fridge that didn't like getting left behind, so the fun started right away. We channged our cable pkg & had a skirmish with that when we got home too. Think we got a guy comng on that this morning already though. Got 2-3 places I need to visit around town before I do much else. Have a good day.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 32 at choretime heading for a high near 50. Frosty this a.m. Coyotes set up a fuss about 2 a.m. so had to remind them to keep their distance. Pi$$ed me off. Tempting to get a thermal scope for my .223. Have enough points on my Cabela's card that plus a SS check down the road, I could prolly pull it off. I like sleep. I hate coyotes. Sounds like a rational decision, right? :rotflmao: Geez glenn, that sure sounds like a big cow!  :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

A night scope with a suppressor sounds like more fun, but aren't donkeys supposed to be good at keeping coyotes away?

Ya, you can have all the guard animals you want like donkeys, llamas, Great Pyrenees, etc., but it won't eliminate any coyotes. The coyotes so far haven't been in the yard yet but they are getting bolder and more numerous. They've been spotted in Bugtussle on numerous occasions. They sometimes go between our house and the neighbor's line in the pasture at home, <100 yards away. 25 - 30 years ago this was not the case. The easy winters with no snow favor their survival just like everything else. They have no natural predators here. With all the roadkill we have it's no wonder they're becoming more of a nuisance. Bear in mind also, we have two pastures so we'd need double the guard animals. Add up the purchase price, the annual vet bills, hoof trimming, shearing, feed & daily care, then suddenly a thermal or upper end night vision scope looks a lot more attractive. I already have the .223 & could upgrade to a serviceable .243 quickly. Still studying the matter. The suppressor might not be a bad idea although they've been shot at enough with the .22 it might not make a lot of difference.
