Yup so hard to find a good hot dog anymore too.  Sad!

I get mine from the local small locker plants or store that process their own...  way better...
a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work!!

smaller than a braut. Same size as most the hot dogs you see.

I bought a pkg of them about a year ago.  I thought well I am going to buy some "good" hot dogs.  When I had the first one I was puzzled and thought maybe I didn't cook it long enough.  Had the second one and was so disappointed.  I ended up throwing the rest of them out.  Even Oscar Meyers were better than them.

If you're near a Coborn's, their store brand coarse-ground wieners are really good.  The only big store hot dog I'll buy... Otherwise it's all about the meat market dogs!

Yea coborns had it had a braut that was really really good. Even I liked it. They where a white or lighter color then other brauts.

My first job in the meat buisness was working for Ambassador sausage co. in Mpls.  Those were the days they made the best wieners and other stuff.  Worked there for a year and then went on to be a butcher.  Ambassador was sold to a out of state company.  Since then the old fashion wieners just are not the same.  As far as Swiegert,  All of their stuff tastes the same and all of it is garbage like most big brand names.  I haven't bought those in years.  for I make my own stuff.  Small locker plants and butcher shops are good spots to go if you can find them.  Best place in the cities is Kamarchecks in Mpls.  Google them.  They make quality sausage.  good luck.

Only brats I can eat are RH's. Really. The best!   ;D  I tried Fareway's from the butcher case; not impressed, and any packaged ones a dog wouldn't eat. How people can eat a Johnsonville brat is beyond me.  :puke:

Ya Reb,  Johnsonville has changed over time.   Lot more fat in the lean/fat ratio and way over priced.  good luck.

Thinking of making hamburgers tonight.  That chicken looks great.  That is also an option for tonight now too.  I used to love Johnsonvilles.  Now I can hardly eat them.
