Now you are talking Dotch.  Sounds pretty good.  So I (the wife) printed out the Rueben soup recipe from Roony.   It is called Easy Rueben Soup.  I changed the name to Roony's Rueben Soup since Roony and Easy are synonymous with each other.   :rotflmao: :happy1: :rotflmao:   And that is a compliment Roony.

Walleye filets and a crappie filet, soaked in lemon water, dredged in panko bread crumbs and Andy's red breading 50 50 blend, fried in olive oil and sided with fire roasted sweet corn.

Absolutely not,the lemon imparts zero flavor, it only makes the filets sweet.
You can combine pike,bluegill, crappie etc and the filets will taste the same.
Lemon is an acid and will take even the fishiest flavor out of all of them.

 I learned this years ago trying to get the finicky eaters to try fish which were turned off by the frier stench of gamey fish.

It even works on fish caught in warm water.
Recipe is:
1/4 cup of lemon juice concentrate to 1 one quart cold water.
Let filets soak for 20 minutes or until filets turn white.
Drain and rinse with cold water, pat dry and bread as usual.
Fry in your favorite oil at 375

And I will add this, if you want to get the best out of your catch,ditch the live well for a cooler full of ice.
When you catch a keeper of any species use your knife or game scissors to cut the gills and let the fish bleed out in the net,takes about 6 seconds.

 Toss the fish on the ice in the cooler and you will have a  much better tasting filets.
If you have dead gray fish floating in your live well they need fed to the gulls and eagles.
The reason what I say works is because the meat is not tainted with stress hormones and putrified blood.

That fish meal looks great!  We need to cook some up this week.  A couple of years ago I started bleeding my fish too.  I do use my live well but when I am done fishing and heading to the dock I use a scissors and cut the gills of each fish.  I pull the drain plug and leave the livewell pump on till I get in.  They are rinsed nicely and ready to put in my bucket.  The fillets are nice and white and not as much mess cleaning the fish.

No,lemon juice concentrate in the green bottle.
I buy the pint one as I do several fish fries during the winter.

Gotcha......I'll try it.  there always seems to be a piece or 2 that taste "fishy."

I am taking out 2 big chunks of ham I have in the freezer.  Will turn it into ham and bean soup for the weekend.  OR maybe that 7 bean soup that Mike makes.  Not sure yet.  Will buy the supplies today.

I usually never keep the roasts, but ended up with 3 from last year in a mix up ordering the cuts. So what's an easy but good recipe or way to do them up?
