What's on the sideboard for New Years Eve goodies? For me, it's been the same for 20 years...a pkg of little smokies, simmering in some spicy BBQ sauce (used to add about 1/8 cup bourbon to it) in the 1976 fondue pot. Might toss in some Sriracha this year.  Assorted cheeses, this year, Danish creamy havarti, Danish Havarti with dill, muenster, sharp cheddar, baby swiss, and colby.  Herring in wine sauce. Chilled Jumbo shrimp with cocktail sauce. Assorted crackers with swiss almond cheese spread. Deviled eggs. Herring in wine sauce.  And...eggnog with grated nutmeg.
I've never gotten tired of that menu, and it's never varied! Tip: best to be able to crack open a few windows the next day... ;D

For us, it's always been lobster tails, baby red tators and corn on the cob....washed down with homemade dandelion wine.

That sounds great guys! It's usually king crab legs, 2 bags of uncooked shrimp in some sort of scampi sauce, and some scallions.  Usually some one is bleeding messing around with legs, my guess it's me this year. After watching a movie it's vanilla ice cream , peanuts and chocolate watching one of the ceremonies.

I wish my wife liked crab legs...  I don't know how you don't.  That would definitely be something I would do but it wouldn't go over very well if I spent that much money and I was the only one eating it.

We're going to our friends' house this year and I think they're bringing in Chipotle.  That's just fine by me, it's been a long Holiday - I love cooking, but I'm actually looking forward to not having to really make anything this time.  I think we might bring chips and salsa but that's it.  Just beers, tacos and Hockey!!!  Go WILD!

So we need out fur lined speedos then????   It is lobster for us.  I have a 1.37 lber and a .9 lber for the wife.  Still not sure what our sides will be but I have a craving for a good old salad with hard boiled eggs, tomato chunks, onion, cheese, olives etc.  Speaking of olives I may have me a martini tonight too.  I bought some Prairie Vodka.  Make in Mn.  Good stuff.

Wheeeeee! At mike 89's behest, we made the bacon wrapped scallops and lamb chop feast a reality. Not before the cachaca was made into caipirinhas and the gin was melded with tonic however...lol. Lamb chops were seasoned with Weber Chicago steak and scallops had a dusting of garlic powder and Mrs. Dash's. Both entities enjoyed their final few minutes of their time on the grill basted with a mango-pineapple glaze which really set the scallops off given the center cut bacon. Mrs. Cheviot can't eat the bacon as it triggers her migraines so more for me! Rounded out with some hashbrowns and Dole salad including craisins, brussels sprouts, kale, etc. I should crap like a goose tomorrow!   :happy1:
