Like I heard a guy say on FTW youtube.  Why can't we have nice things.  Man this QB thing seems so hard for us.

A game for the non starters. Only 1 starter played for either team. And there was more empty seats than filled ones. People are understanding that....."Why should I pay full price for a game with no starters."

That is what the gambling community thinks...  The over and under for the Vikes is 7.5.   :embarrassed:

I'm optimistic,  but thinking 8.5 is worth throwing some cash at. Ya never know..

Heck ya.  Fun to have a bet on the total wins.  My brothers and I do a bet on it too with each other.

My keys to the season...
  • Can Darnold prove he deserves to be an NFL starter?  (Will he catch lightning in a bottle?)
  • Can JJ continue to carry the passing game while TJ (Hokenson) is out with a knee to start the season and Addison's suspension looming, and no WR3 yet to emerge?
  • With Aaron Jones on the roster, can the offensive line improve their run blocking to take some of the pressure off the passing game?
  • With the addition of Stephon Gilmore, does Brian Flores have enough talent at CB to improve their pass defense?  (In 2023 the Vikes were 8th in run defense, but 24th in pass defense.)

More big news! Vikings signing RB Mo Ibrahim.

Mo went undrafted last year, signed with the Lions, got into one game, and was injurer on a special teams play.

We'll have to see if Mo can find a role here.  It will be cool if he can.

Ty Chandler doesn't excite me 2nd on the depth chart and Kene Nwangwo (RB3) made big special teams kick return splashes in 2022, but his 2023 season was pretty non-descript.

I hope they can find Ibrahim some productive playing time.

This just in...   :reporter;

And SI.com article says Mo Ibrahim is still a longshot to make the 51-man roster.  Still, why would they sign him if they didn't think he had a good chance of beating out someone else.

Quarterback/Running Back/Fullback
— Locks (6): Sam Darnold, Aaron Jones, Nick Mullens, C.J. Ham, Ty Chandler, Kene Nwangwu
— Bubble: Jaren Hall, Myles Gaskin
— Longshots: Mo Ibrahim, DeWayne McBride, Matt Corral

... easy group to predict. I'm comfortable calling Nwangwu a lock, mostly due to his kick return role. He's also the logical RB3 after earning 97 yards on 12 carries (8.1 YPC) through two preseason games. Hall and Gaskin seem likely to end up the practice squad, especially because the Vikings can have the BYU product in uniform as their emergency third quarterback on game days. The Vikings also just signed Ibrahim, the Gophers' all-time leading rusher, on Thursday.

Hockenson is expected to miss 4 games & Addison's suspension isn't expected to be until it's close to the end of the season is what I've read. As far as WR3 goes..................Nailor has been a star in training camp so far and in both preseason games. He’s locked up the WR3 spot and it hasn’t been close. Nailor’s biggest issue since being drafted has been his durability, but when healthy he’s shown he’s capable of WR3 duties. Even more so this year. Having the taller Nailor as WR3 also provides more of an opportunity for Jordan Addison to play in the slot, where he may be more effective off the line of scrimmage. Nailor could reps at WR2 if Addison is suspended for his off-season incident. They signed another ex-Gopher OL, Filiaga, earlier this week too. Almost all of these guys signed this late are usually fighting to make the practice squad.

I've looked at their schedule 3 times and can't find a loss on it.  Should be a good season.  Skol!

No doubt Nailor has earned his spot on the roster.  Its just that he hasn't been much of a factor since being drafted in 2022 - which is tough playing behind JJ and Adison, but that is the hand he as been dealt.  He should get more looks this season.

I like the way you think Savage.  LOL  What is really screwed up is when the suspension for Addison will occur.  Are they doing it to effect the season wins or to punish the individual?  Seems like a very slipshod way of doing things.  Have to wait till after the trial or whatever I guess.

Read where they'll most likely cut Risner, so they can protect Murphy by putting him on the IR list. Murphy is a UDFA who plays LB/DE. Risner is then expected to clear waivers & if he does he'll be put on the practice squad.

Remind me what Risner's back story is.  Weren't the Vikings hoping he was going to be a starter at one point?  What happened?

Great Vikes game.  Watched almost all of it.  Even the backups did good.  Had some sacks and Hall made some good passes.  The D did their job and so did the O.

 One position battle that we’ve been closely following during training camp, is at right guard. Ed Ingram has started there, the last two seasons. But with Blake Brandel now the starter at left guard, Dalton Risner was supposed to push Ed Ingram for first team reps on the right side.Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened. The Vikings weren’t that excited about Risner, in the first place. They proved that with the non-starter contract offer they made him in the offseason. Other teams clearly aren’t high on him either, which is why he signed that underwhelming deal, in the first place. And now, Dalton Risner can’t stay on the field. He’s spent almost all of training camp injured. So, even with Ed Ingram struggling to secure the starting LG role, Risner isn’t on the radar to usurp him.In fact, according to Dane Mizutani (Pioneer Press), on the Purple Insider podcast with Matt Coller (PurpleInsider.com), it’s becoming more and more possible that Risner could be again unemployed, before the end of Minnesota Vikings training camp

He just can't get the job done.  Interesting. That Rodriguez is a spark plug out there.   That big guy who's name starts with B is a beast out there.
