Went out to West Rush, and found 6 inches of clear ice with an inch on top of white ice.

It's been making ice lately the past couple nights locally. Was 3/4" of ice in the water buckets this a.m. St. Olaf froze back over entirely again over the weekend but so far, haven't seen anyone out or in, yet.

Chopped my spearhole and a good 16 inches on cabin lake
My little crappie hole lake I'm guessing had 3-4 inches less.

Very little water on the ice that surprises me. A good foot of snow on the lake.

Ice report from Barnacle Bills on the North side of Mille Lacs

1-21-22 Ice Update: Our roads go the sands, rockpile, bumps and east side of east flats. An initial road was established to barnacle flats, however, it is not ready for vehicle traffic yet as it only has 10” of ice. A few more cold days are needed before it is safe for vehicle traffic. We were able to open up a little more area on east flats. The decision was made that we will be open to public traffic this weekend including wheel houses. Please remember to keep your speed down to 10mph and check in with the resort before going out in case lake/ice conditions change.

This happens every year on West Rush in Chisago county.... Never drive between Braham island and Cigar Island..... you won't make it.

This happened yesterday...  :banghead:

That is crazy. Fishing suddenly gets real expensive if you put yer truck in the drink.

Ice appears to be out on St. Olaf unless there's hunk floating down in the SE corner not visible from the road. I'll have to check it out sometime today to see.

Upon further review, it appears the ice is out on St. Olaf.

A whole different world up here. 40" of rock hard ice here. Most of the snow is gone from the ice now though.

Heard that yesterday too JB.  Some resorts had over 40" this year.  The river is open at Frontier and Kooch Co was just loading their backhoe onto the trailer after they cleaned up the ramp.  Still solid at Vidas.  I watched fisherman for awhile and never saw a fish caught.  I will take the boys for a ride that way again today.
