Saw someone with a quad on a trailer at the access on St. Olaf. Key words "on a trailer". Looks like a lot of water on the ice.

Word on the street is that they are no longer letting people tow fish houses out onto the lake.   I even heard today that they are only letting small to mid sized vehicles on the ice.

When I came by the access tonite, the quad was still on the trailer. It looked pretty slushy out there.

It was 32 when I woke up this morning.  It may get down to 32 for about 3 hours tomorrow morning and then back to upper 30's - 40's.  That water below that thin sheet of ice is also above freezing.

Ya, I had 17" of ice a week ago and this weekend it was down to 14" thick. I still can't believe there are resorts out 7 to 8 miles.

No doubt Gunner.  Those new owners of 3 of the resorts have to make some money.  Word on the street here is that Ballards are thinking of closing it down for the season.  They were not bought out by the new group.

As I sat on the deck drinking my coffee Sunday morning wearing a t-shirt and flip flops, I noticed not one person was fishing our lake. Curious, I drove around neighboring lakes and again, not a person.

My lake had 9-11" two weeks ago. I didn't have time to check the ice, but driving around told me everything I needed to know.

Saw someone's car by the access on St. Olaf this a.m. Couldn't see 'em so guessing they walked out someplace & were fishing on a bucket. Will be so nice today there's no need for a shelter.

Man the river sure looks different today.  Dark and wet with the rain we have had.

When I drove by St. Olaf this a.m. at first it almost looked like it was open. Second glance showed there was likely water on top of the ice. Guessing the ice under the water is pretty slushy too. Wouldn't want to try & ice fish out there with a pair of leaky boots today.  :coffee:

Found a voice mail on my phone a little bit ago. Buddy of mine a few miles north of me has a pond in his yard & the ice went out on it ~ 3 days ago. He said this morning there was a mallard swimming around on it.

1/2" on the dot here and still raining.  That would have been a lot of snow.
