I got bored this afternoon and took a cruise around the chain. I believe ice season is over around here. I did see 1 giy on Schneider but the shoreline are toast.

Ice be gone here on Beaver & St. Olaf Lake since Saturday nite. Was a small piece of ice up in the NW corner of St. Olaf when I drove by this a.m. but that was it.

for what its worth i seen on FB this morning a deal up by ottertail. they drilled a hole about 1/2 way down of about 21 inches of ice and watched water fill the hole!!!!

so its getting to be some crappy ice.

I see there are a few out here fishing today with ATVs.  The ice is looking pretty dark.  Last night I talked to a resort owner over on Winnie who feels the ice will probably be done by the end of next week.  There is still over 30" of ice but its just not good ice.   Going to be a while before we see open water.

that always baffles me!!!!!! a lake as big as Winnie that usually takes longer to lock up has more ice then the cabin lake that usually locks up relatively fast has 23 inches of ice when i was up there, and winnie has 30?????????

We had 4-5 wheeler's out on the bay yday & a couple more came out ~ 11 today. The weedy point leaving our bay has been looking pretty dark since early in the week here.

 i was bored yesterday so checked out the horseshoe chain...... yep its still there!!!!!!! the river system is wide open. depending on what side the road you looked how far from shore was open water.......but that ice wont be there for much longer!!!!!

a buddy of mine told me the lakes around Monticello are wide open!!!!!!

Buddy of mine told me yesterday that he drilled down about half way and his hole filled with water.  All crystalized ice most of the way down.   But a LOT of it.

i have over 40" of solid ice, driving skidster all over to do dock repair.

Incredible to hear of all the ice up there yet. Was browsing thru some texts from a friend & the ice was already out locally back on March 15th. Virtually no snow and the dark bottomed lakes down here will do that.

Ice is slushy on the river.  Open water at Vidas landing east of us.  Not shore to shore but holes in the middle of the river.

Buddy of mine said yesterday a lake he was on was right down to the power head.   He says its not all good ice but a lot of it.  We have had zero snow all winter so no insulation on our ice.
