Might have made 60 here. Spent 4 hours or so in the boat on Winnie yesterday. Lots of perch action, brother had a good 1 on but it never got to the boat. Mid 50's & a 10-20 mph NW wind today, mid 40's tomorrow. Didn't see any protesters around here either LPS. Enjoy the day guys.

I'm back from the northern woods but wish I was still there.  Posted some pics from my hunt in the deer moose thread.  Didn't get a shot.  None of us got a shot.  Could not believe how warm it was.  In the 70's most of the time.  I think the deer just bedded down during the day.  My trail cam and others had deer every day.  We had a good time and that is what it's all about.  Deer are a bonus.  Going back next week for a few days.  Going to be colder and that is the way I like it. Hopefully we get some venison.  There is a lone wolf in the area.  The wolf gives this sad erie howl at times.  Normally we hear packs howling back and forth but this is a loner.  Nothing like being up north, nothing.  good luck.

AND GOOD Morning to you too!!!     What a great way to start the day.  Now I forgot what I was going to say.   Oh ya.  A buddy of mine went to go hunting the other day with his 16 year old daughter.  Their Uncle was driving out of the area and gave them the finger.  My buddy thought it was a wave at first so he waved back.  Then he stopped and thought he should say hi and see what was wrong.  Like did the Uncle decide to hunt the same stand as them or what?  They hunt on a friends land.  Well the Uncle jumped out of his truck and started loading his rifle and was pointing it at them in their truck so my buddy kept on going.  Then the Uncle followed them as they were heading towards town.  Well they decided maybe they should call the Sheriff and document this.  By the next day the Uncle had been in the local watering hole talking about how my buddy was going to be his "dead nephew".  One of the Deputies went to the Uncles house to verify this and the Uncle said yes he is going to be my "dead nephew".  So they cuffed him and brought him in.  Now they let him out of house arrest, he had an ankle bracelet on, took all of his guns away, he has a not drinking rule, and don't go near my buddy or his family.  He is getting a felony out of this.  They don't do that often up here cuz they know how important gun ownership is to people around here.  WOW!!!  AND too bad the 16 year old daughter had to see all of this.  She said in the truck, "Is this really happening?".  Bummer for a kid to be involved in something like this.  Well I need more java.  Be cool and have a nice day.   28 here.

He thought he was hogging the deer stand that isn't even on or near his property.  My buddies best friend owns the land.  The Uncle just hunts there.   They have lots of stands too.  So you would think no big deal.  Go to a different stand.

Wow is all I can say. My father passed away three years ago and was a navy vet. He had a navy tee shirt so after he passed away I wear it to remember and honor him. I had a customer come to the shop, saw me wearing it & asked me if I served and I told him no and proceeded to tell him why I wear it and he said that it sickens him when people wear or advertise any branch of the service that never picked up a gun to defend their country and said until I do what he did I shouldn't wear the shirt anymore. I looked at him and said if you don't like the way I honor my father for his service and life too bad go get help for your problems and have a nice day oh and if it's ok for me to tell you thank you for your service. I didn't even give him his coffee just shut the window

I still have his peacoat and dress whites in my closet but I'm too fat to wear the coat anymore. The only thing I fit into is his black tossel hat that he wore while on deck on the aircraft carrier. I also have his bible that issued to him plus his and my grandfathers zippos

Winding down on soil sampling season. Still left my trailer with the Gator on it hooked up to the pickup one more day. About the time I start putting stuff away someone in a panic will call with an emergency (in their mind) sampling job. Day 4 of Mrs. Cheviot being gone. The house is beginning to resemble my old college apartment. At least I'm not sleeping in a pile of dirty clothes like I sometimes did, yet. I am however out of tonic so need to rectify that situation before evening grilling time. Planning on taking the afternoon off to do some odds and ends. Still canna bulbs drying outside all over the place and it's supposed to get down to 27 tonight.

Got to sleep late till 7.  Nice.  On our way to pick up the new pontoon trailer today at Bemidji.  Cool huh?  Then we will be set.  I will post pics later of the new setup.  My neighbor just got one so of course we need one too.  I saw him with his kids and grandkids out fishing in my spot last night.  I called him and told him it was my spot but he just laughed at me.  No respect these days.      Looks to be another fine morning so off to the shower and time to get moving south for the new toy.  Have a great day all.  Gophers football isn't till tonight I think.  Hope they can beat Nebraska.     I heard NE isn't that good this year.

Indeed it is a glorious morning thus far. Low of 29 and ice formed about 1/8" thick on the stock tank. Went over to the neighbors to let their dog out and discovered one of their son in laws was sleeping there to go deer hunting. At least I woke him up. Nice drive though and I got to gawk at the ruts left by the Terragator that was stuck last night. They tried to pull it out with another Terragator but ended up calling the wrecker after a couple hours. Come to find out they got the wrecker stuck too!  What a mess. Need to make a feed run then pick up some oil and filters so I can haul chit in the next couple weeks. Oh and I could use another bag of charcoal to tide me over until the pre-Thanksgiving sales. Lots of putz projects to keep me occupied until the Gopher game. Not sure if the Fuskers Tommy Armstrong has clearance to play yet so could be interesting, or not.

Didn't see any deer last night but was a great sit anyways.  Should have maybe gone fishing.  Have to make that decision after the Vikes game today.  Fish or Hunt?  One is 100 yards to the north and one is 100 yards to the south.  Probably a better chance to catch a fish than to get a deer but who knows.  I watched the Gophers last night.  Good game.  They were in it till the end.  Too bad they didn't pull it off.  Would have been a hoot to beat NE.  So that bring us to the Vikes.  Who knows what will happen today.  I am going to try to not get too bummed if we lose.  It's just a game right?   The wife and I get pretty wound up watching.  lol  Woke up to 35 here today so no ice yet HD.  Some guys I know have fished on ice at least in 4 Mile Bay on Dec 11 every year for about 15 years.  We will see......   Have a good day all....
