Friend of mine made a nice sign for me.  Good old red white and blue fro colors.  Also going to marinade about 6 pounds of sirloin tip of jerky to be smoked tomorrow.  My daughter sent me the Dr. Pepper marinade recipe so I'll try it out.  She said make some for me and I can't say no.  She didn't say I'll buy the meat and make it for me just make it for me LOL.  good luck.

Boar here is the recipe.  Dr. Pepper Jerky

2 cups Dr. Pepper
2 Jalapeno peppers chopped  [i'm leaving in the seeds]
1 T worcestershire sauce
2 T Kosher salt
2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder

Mix and put it in a saucepan.  Bring to a boil and then a low simmer for 15 minutes.  Let cool and pour over meat.  I'm going to double this [this is for 3 pounds] and let it "meld" overnight.  Smoke tomorrow.  good luck.

Morning all, 34 at the moment. Trees are moving pretty good for so early. Back to GR today for at leas t 1 of us. We picked up a cracked windshield on our trip up & made arrangements to get it fixed yday. Got to the installer only to have them tell us that the replacement glass had a scratch in it. They had the replacement glass for most of a week & didn't check it out until we got there. :scratch We had some other errands to run so we were going to town anyway. Not much else new here, hope you have a good 1

Good morning.  Having my Honey nut cheerios as we speak.  Went for a drive after work and the open water was at Silver Creek.  About 3 miles from our place.  Now I can see a thin channel of water in the middle of the river so it will maybe be open when I get home from work.  Our floating dock will still be frozen in the shore ice for a week or two.  Darn.  Lot of boats around now.

I like honey nut cherrios myself along with cracklin oats.  Getting ready to put the jerky in the smoker.  I may have to put some in the dehydrator also.  Should buy another jerky rack next time I'm in Fleet Farm.  Only have two.  Going to give my lab tick meds today.  I  think it's time, those critters are going to be out soon if not now already.  good luck.

TGIF.  31 here this morning.  Had a good shot of rain yesterday afternoon.   The open water in the middle of the river is over 100' wide.  And there are some idiots with 3 full sized vehicles on the ice maybe another 150' from the open water by the bridge doing tip ups for northerns.  I couldn't believe it when I saw it.  Will be curious to see if they are there again this afternoon.  I have to work tomorrow so will be a short weekend for me.  Oh well more overtime is nice.  Have a good one.

TGIF also!! 31 for me to this morning. Some people are just plain nuts if you ask me Barry. Plan to run to Baudette after work today to by the sheriffs dept and drop off our paperwork for our permits to carry. May stop at Ronnings and get some new work boots too. Planning on fishing this weekend. Have not decided if I am going to go up to Garden or just fish out front. Such big decisions  confused-3316.gif. Other then that nothing much new happening. Just need to get thru one more day of work. Have a good one all.

Brother had a short bout with the bug too Boar, his only lasted 1 day though.Going to try my luck  :fishing: sometime in the next day or 2. :happy1: Got a guy stopping by this am to check out the septic system as the light on top has come on. They didn't sound as though they thought it was anything major. confused-3316.gif

Good Morning.  Jerbait,  glad to see your getting the carry permit.  I'm getting my wife one also.  I'm going to giver her my 380 and I'll be getting me a larger caliber.  380 is perfect for her purse.  I have a lot of friends in law enforcement that I met through my brother who is now a retired police officer and they have told me many things that are not even in the news.  Cleaning up the house today, just to get it messed up again by the grandkids this weekend.  Waiting for steelhead and looper season to open up in the streams on the north shore.  Getting my gear ready.  Been doing this since the 60's and only missed the 3 years I spent in the Army.  Packing the jerky today also.  good luck.

Yeah, when we had him on the phone he thought it might be a stuck float. We're unable to reset the alarm at this time too, so it needs to be looked at. Their business isn't very far away, so hopefully they'll be here early today.

'Morning all. Window rattling T-boomers at 3:00 am this morning. Tremendous thunder; brought 1/2" rain in my gauge.
Takin' it easy today. RH and Jerkbait...Been waiting on my permit to carry renewal for 3 weeks now...what do you guys pay? $75 just to renew in stoopid CAWchester; $100 for first issuance. I've been carrying since the 80's. Think I'd get a price break or something. They're gettin' rich off of me. Have a good one guys, I need lotsa cawfee and Advil today.  :undecided:
