Mornin'! Clarks Grove (Little Jerusalem) did get hit pretty hard. Our veterinarian is there and we eat at the Pour House sometimes. It's about 20 minutes south of us. Recognized a lot of the damaged buildings although initial reports were that the storm had knocked the elevator down. Turned out to be primarily the large fertilizer storage unit. Rest of the town is ripped up pretty good. 30 degrees overnight and there were snow pellets on the Buick this a.m. Rainfall at the ranch totaled .23" and we're still waiting for the water in the gauge in town here to thaw so we can read it. Sounds like a health care bill I once heard about.

Morning all. Clarks Grove got hammered last night, lotsa damage, no power...reported t'nado. Lots of lightning and thunder her, poured like a mofo for about two hours. Musta got close to a couple inches of rain. Sump pump started in running late last nite. I can hear water tricking into the pit this am, that means it's really saturated bad out there. 33* this am and the winds just holwin' out there. Cawfee time guys....might post some pics later.

Ya windy as heck here... Looks like a week of cold then maybe the big warm up.  Heard there has been some big cracks on the lake.  Just a rumor though.  Unreal that you guys had such warm weather.  Such a shame that some had damage from the storms.

Mikey,
By the time the wall cloud got this far North, it wasn't much of a tornado left. You could still see the clouds rotating. No real damage because the hail was small and didn't last long. More heavy rain and gusty winds than anything. We're between Mora and Cambridge.

You are correct LPS, the rumors are true. The cracks are really busted up and pushed high. I tried going for a swim in one on Sunday evening. The chunk I was standing on broke and started going down. I was mid way up my thigh and managed to get back onto the solid ice again. At least the dingle berries stayed dry. :bonk: I was glad it broke on me and not when I would have tried to drive across it. the water was 6-8 feet deep where I was.

We fly out and rent a car.   I get a pretty good rate on the car.

It saves me about 8 nights in motels and driving expense for about 4500 miles, so I figure driving is close to 2 grand total round trip with current gas prices.  3 grand if you count in depreciation etc on the car, and food on the road.

I spend about 1500 on the car rental and 900 on plane fare.

It comes close, and I don't have to drive for all those days.   Some folks like it, but for me there is a lot of nothing with occasional scenery between MN and CA.

We've got 33 with 25 mph winds to start. They are supposed to calm down late this afternoon, switch to the north, then colder for a few days. 1 more set of taxes done yday so no more for this household. Not much else going on, hope you enjoy your day

Can't believe this wind.  Seen some pics from Lake Superior with the waves.  They had the spray from the big waves go over lighthouse structures that are 48 feet high.  It was howling all night long here also, still is.  Yesterday when I went shopping it was blowing so hard it nearly stopped me in my tracks pushing my grocery cart to my truck.  I actually had to pull the cart from the front to my truck.  Had my pike chunks soaking in salt water for 3 days so I drained and rinsed them.  Put them back in the container and covered the chunks in plain vinegar for another 3 days.  Then I will drain that and rinse.  Make my pickling brine and simmer it and let it cool off.  Next day the chunks will go in mason jars along with onion slices and covered with the brine.  7 days after that I start eating.  good luck.
