This looks good for the big game goodies tomorrow....but I think I'd add some BBQ seasoning to it, too, or use my own seasoned cooked chicky. That oughtta do it.   :cheesy:

I worked for Jeno's down by the Harbor in Duluth as a kid.  Wilderness pie filling right next door also.  good luck.

Hey RH

I was at Jeno's in the late 90's as relief inspector for the USDA, quit an interesting place and building.  they said it was a old kill plant using gravity for forward movement of the animals during processing.

Mike 89,  We had USDA inspectors back in the late 60's when I worked there right out of high school.  Reb, those are federal inspectors for the US department of agriculture.  They are still around.  I dealt with them when I worked in a meat shop back in the 70's as they would sell wholesale also.  I would work in  the Wilderness pie side of the building and you could walk through a door and you would be in the Jeno's pizza side of it.  Jeno actually sponsored our family here from Germany and gave my dad his first job.  Back then the sponsor was responsible for the immigrant for everything, and now the taxpayers support them.  Bring back the old days.  good luck.

Yup, I worked with them daily at the butcher shop I worked in for a year...that was in '78, I think.  They still do daily inspections there, so they advertise.

Gee smurf, ya sure missed a melt-in-yer-mouth roast! Pulled it outta the crack pot after a bit over 4 hrs. Temp was 155* in center. Taters and veggies a bit al dente yet, so they got 'waved in a covered bowl while I was making the gravy. And look, Del...I used a roux of flour and water to thicken it!!  :

Is this some kind of joke?  Or a trick?   Flour and water is a slurry.   A roux is flour and fat cooked together before the liquid is added.

You were just checking to see if I was paying attention, right?

It's been a boring two weeks of cooking since I put myself on a diet. Only fresh vegetables and a piece of chicken, or fish. Only 1200 calories and 1000mg of sodium a day so nothing out of a box, can or jar. I have lost 12 lbs in two weeks but I am going through red meat and pizza withdraws.  pouty-1023.gif

Yes plenty of water. I'll have a yogurt with fruit every once and awhile but I'll eat 3 hard boiled eggs a day one with lunch, dinner and a night snack. They r high in protein and good the fats which make u feel full longer
