      Yesterday morning, I was lacing up my boots when one of the strings broke. Wife looked at my boots and said the boots looked like they should be thrown out. She said I should go buy some new boots.

      I thought about that for a second and, being either tight or frugal, I didn't want to go out and buy new boots. I had a thought in my head that seemed somewhat logical. In my head it sounded OK. Until it came out of my mouth.

      I said "I've had the same wife for almost 48 years".

      How did I get to be so old? Will I get to be much older?
