Had a power outage here last night, from about 6-8 entire town was out, good thing I preped for the zombie appocolypes. just as got the genny and heaters up and running, bing! the lights came on. gusse a transformer blew at the elementary school. got my castle in tot he shop last night to thaw out so i can look at bearing and piviot points. Nice to have those acommodations. Have a great day guys!!

'mornin'! We wound up with about 5" of snow, certainly not the return of the Ice Age yet anyway. Been kinda like Wild Kingdom around here this a.m. A rooster pheasant strolling through the backyard and 8 deer moseying along just north of the buildings, plus the regulars (squirrels, cardinals, chickadees, nuthatches, blue jays, juncos, downies, etc.) Yard isn't too bad. Mrs Cheviot took off to work a few hours and I need to motivate. Some coffee and oatmeal first. Everyone else is fed so now it's my turn.

Nice to have all of those critters around Dotch.  I miss seeing pheasants.  RH that sounds like a good ol Christmas.  Good for you.  Good to hear your power is on Boar and that you didn't lose any Coffee.  Yup stock up Bobber, and hide it from the kids....  It is just plain cold here.  I am going to put another log on the fire in the garage so it will be nice and warm in there.  Will finally put the tracks on the Grizzly and maybe start the heater in the fish house to make sure it works.  Trying to get motivated to get it on the river.  -9 is the high for the day.  That does not excite me.  Gonna be in the twentys this week though so that will feel nice.  If I chicken out today maybe I will have to take a day off this week and do it when it is warmer.  We will see how things take shape today.  Business has been good this year, been shipping almost daily which is a good feeling.  Been giving the horses a shot of grain each night in this cold.  Makes them happy and makes me feel good too.  The dogs, Sammy and Buddy come in the barn with me and get a meadow muffin.  lol  Love that green tooth smile afterwards...  lol  Buddy being so smooth as he runs goes in and out under the horses and doesn't even bother them anymore.  He is like a shadow.  That would have been a good name for him.  Well time for another java.  Have a great Sat.

hey reinhard Would love to hit up that grindstone lake for some trout fishing. How late in the season can you fish there? Also when is the best time to fish it. Thanks and pm me if you want Gotta go back to the grind its crunch time  here on the shore of upper red lake.

Howdeedoo fellas, round 1 of snow removal is done, time for some toast and peanut butter then hit her again. The snow chucker is running mint after cleaning the carb up and getting fresh fuel, gotta go dig out the fire hydrant and blow out the mailboxes.  Not sure what ended up with here but after both storms it's quite a bit, might havta take a peek on the roof to make sure the plumbing stacks are clear.  Dropped the wife off earlier at my folks place to make more fresh lefse, mmmm can't wait. Stay warm and I'll chat later boys!!

Happy Saturday gentlemen!! I went to town earlier to get a few groceries, along with enough pork so the granddaughter and I can make a batch of breakfast sausage this weekend. That should be a good time. A bit chilly today, but not too bad if you can find a spot out of the wind. I'll try remember to get a few pictures today while we're grinding and mixing.

Jan 14 till mid march or end of march, I have to check Cookie.  i'll be fishing it regularly from opener on.  So you can get on the lake after walleye season ends also.  I can let you know the ice conditions and snow conditions on the ice by then also.  I'll PM you when I go or PM me if you have any questions.  good luck.

Morning all, at 2am it was 63 degrees and now it's only 22 but no complaints since that is still about 40 to 50 degrees warmer than most of you guys. Nothing exciting today just a Christmas party over the aunts today after the game. Have fun and keep warm

Was -23 Ca when I woke up and was going to head down to the fish house for awhile till I saw the temp,  then I thought NAH....   Got it on the river yesterday and caught 3 nice saugers.  Had a few more bites but couldn't hook them. Had the saugers with eggs this morning.  So my hot dog program turned into a salami program.  Mixed it up yesterday and will stuff them in a few minutes. I need sandwich material so decided that trumps hot dogs.  It is a beef and pork combo.  I added lots of garlic and some pepper flakes...  I think I will just do the cooking in the oven since it is so cold out today.  GO VIKES!!!
