This new law is only going to expedite the process of putting all the pieces in place so I can move into retirement then outta this state. Then it can be the socialist hellhole it's destined to become and I won't give a crap.

Scenic......i havent seen the fine print on this new paid leave.......but under the unpaid time....you needed medical

documentation to get employer approval of the time off.

if i understand your question  correctly about the money being banked as earned........i believe it will be as it covers lost wages when using the paid time off. so yea it would be taxed also!!!!
Currently some of our young guys could care less if they get paid, they love to call in, this will be a bonus for them. However it sounds like we have a big meeting come after the 1st, but from what I'm hearing is our company is going to add them to vacation days. Meaning you need 24hour notice to take them,  so we'll just hafta see the fine print as what was mentioned.

From what I understand it is treated like a sick day.  No notice required.  So those "young guys" you speak of just went from calling in not getting paid to a bonus calling in and getting paid.   A couple of company owners I talked with are fulling expecting being short handed Mondays and Fridays.  And having to pay to be short handed too.

Morning boys.  We have 30 and should hit 37 today.  So far so good.  Mike I wondered when your wife died.  I truly feel for you.  I can't imagine.  Hope you are ok.  It is good to think of things and process it.  I visited my friend that has spent last winter and this winter trying to build a 5x8 fishhouse.  Had all summer to build it but waited till now.  He wants me to help finish it.  I may have to do that today if he calls.  Great guy but has a hard time parting with money to do it right.  Putzing around with free stuff trying to get it done.  He does have an old one that he uses whilst building this one.  If he calls I will pitch in and help.  Not a lot else going on.  Warm weather for another day or two it looks like.  Have a good one.

Morning boys. 30 here and weather channel says a high of 31 today. Surprised there is that much difference between here and Baudette. Has not made it higher than 32 the last 2 days here. Plan is to go fishing with the neighbors today. I will just take a portable. We are heading for Graceton beach area. About it here. Have a good one boys.

I have been hearing some good reports from up there.  Some guys out of Sportsmans did really good yesterday on the Clam Rattlin PT Spoons.

It is surprising how much our weather differs.  The last few days they forecasted 37-39 but only got to 35 or so.  Light fog here now.

Mornin' comrades! Terdie at choretime heading for a high in the mid-terdies. Very frosty this a.m. With the nearly full moon, it almost looked like it had snowed with the light reflecting off of it. Kinda freezing mist when I drove to Bugtussle. Quiet start to the day thus far. Need to send a few more bills out and then do more bookwork before years end. One solution I've heard to the paid sick leave situation for small business owners is to make employees independent contractors. That comes with its own set of issues but it would keep employers from paying people who don't show up because they overserved themselves the night before. The old personal responsibility thing. Hope you're having a decent day mikey. Would come over and have a beer if I lived a little closer. Bet I could have a G&T for you tonite! :happy1:

Headed to town for some eats for to bring with for the weekend. I usually stop in Menahga at the store there to support them a bit but will have a bunch $$$$ stuff in an open trailer I don't need stolen. Talking to my heating guy yesterday I believe he told his tech to stop by and he forgot is what happened. I think we have that cleared up now. It was 41 degrees in there yesterday before I lit the heater. Seems to hold the heat fairly well. Got to go, later........ :happy1: :happy1:

The weather looks great for one last 2023 trip to the land. I plan to explore a bit and check out a location I plan to build a box blind at next summer. This will be my first ever box blind build so it should be interesting. Nothing like scouting in late December.  :azn:

Mornin' comrades! 28 at choretime heading for a high in the mid-to-upper 30's. Some of the clouds burned off so actually seeing some sun so far. End of the year stuff to finish in Bugtussle then prolly make a feed run & putz around the ranch this afternoon if the ground is still frozen. Unhook the chit spreader, air up a tractor tire and put the wheel back on the flare box. Neighbor came & got his skidsteer out of my barn yesterday so I can manufacture more space once that flare box is out of there. Be nice to be totally focused on snow removal if/when it comes. May see a dusting tomorrow nite. One of the weather terrorists was talking a major cooldown after about the 10th. Still a lot better than some winters as we've lopped about 6 weeks off on the front end. Well, better hit 'er hard!

This is a pic I swiped off someone's ad. They used to use these more commonly back in the day when farmers still picked ear corn. Without a hydraulic lift, they were kind of a PITA. Also top heavy with a narrow base so they could be tipped over more easily than a barge box, especially in hilly country. I had two flare boxes. Used them for storing feed. Got tired of climbing in & out of them at feeding time. Replaced them with gravity boxes. Much easier to deal with.

Guys who cut wood like them, especially if they have a hydraulic hoist. They can be retrofitted pretty easily if they don't tho as someone usually has a hoist on CL or FB Marketplace.
