Morning, campers. Got a lot of weeding done in the middle garden and a few other chores done by 9:00.
Routine doctor visit went well yesterday. She told me I could stand to loose a few more pounds. I had a Grain Belt Premium and thought about it. She's right.
Stay safe, everyone.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.

I used to drink Pabst. My favorite is cold and free.

Pabst was my brand in HS going into college.  Then I bounced around a lot of years with a lot of brands without a lot of loyalty.  I did drink a lot of lagers, ales and stouts and, like TT, if it was cold and free, I'd drink it.

I never really got into the craft beer scene - all the hoppsy beers.  Closest thing to a steady craft beer for me is Lift Bridge Farm Girl.  Otherwise I buy Kokanee (Pilsner from British Columbia) for myself and will drink Wisconsin's Spotted Cow if it is in reach.  I'm still not too picky.

Good morning, folks. 73° at 6:00 today. We even had a few sprinkles. Not really rain, but a few sprinkles.
Gonna make some salsa today. I'll chop up more habaneros, jalapenos, hot banana peppers and some onions.
Everyone, have a fantastic day. Small game season opens in 22 days. Also, just realized that Christmas is 4 months from today.

Morning boys.  A nice morning here.  Will get up to 74 today which is great.  Had some thunder and even some rain during the night.  Less than 1/4" but still nice to have.  I have a few projects to putz with but no big deal.  Have a great day!

Mornin gang, we had 66 early & are headed for 75. We had some light rain overnight too, but not enough to register in our gauges. I'll peek at the neighbor's digital gauge in a bit. Got a little dirt left from the new shed build & going to use it to seed more on this side of the shed, so I've been messing with that at times. Got some more mowing I can do too. No more now, have a good 1.

Last weekend at camp ground. Might be able to get some things done at home after this. After saving all of that money not buying the caddy or JD tractor I thought I would treat myself to something on my wish list. Picked up a 5,000 pound winch at Harbor Freight yesterday on sale for $179.00. Plan is to mount it on a plate that has tubing welded on it that is the same size as a ball hitch. Then weld another on the trailer the same size as the receiver on the truck. It can be used on the truck or trailer. Just another project. Later…. :happy1: :happy1:

I bought 2 winches on sale Harbor Freight site.  One for the boom on my log splitter.  Been using it for 3 years or so.  It quit working and the fob wasn't lighting up.  I called them and they walked me through how to reset the fob.  No problem at all.  That impressed me.  That is a nice one Mark.

Morning boys. Cloudy and 57 here.  Headed to about 74.  Nice weather.  No rain here till Tue.  Had a nice fire last night until Cooper ran through a ground bee nest and got stung a few times.  Then they got Jake too.  I rubbed them down to get the bees off of them and we gave them both some benadryl.  It was a bad deal.  I sprayed the bejeebers out of that ground nest.  That is the fourth wasp/bee nest so far this year.  We are keeping stocked up on those big cans that spray a long ways.  Man do they work good.  Felt so bad for the pups but they came out of it ok.  Jake is wrastling with Cooper now.  He is a tough little guy.  LOL  Love the heck out of both of them.  They are great buddies too.  The wife is going to a celebration of life for her niece that died awhile back so I am batching it.  Gonna be some wood cutting and mayhaps us guys will just have our own fire today.  She warns me to be careful since she won't be here to save me.  LOL  Well you all have a great Saturday.

Mornin gents, we had 60 early & they're sayin it'll only make 67 here today. Mowed the area between the garage & the shed yday as that stays shaded, so it grows fast. Could do out front too, but think I'll wait 'til it sounds more like rain. Got a light breeze & some clouds so I might go for a boat ride now. 'Bout it here, have a good day.

We were just talking about that last night.  It has been since the early to mid eighties since I was there too.  Machinery hill was starting to shrink way back then.  The wife has never been.  Have fun.  Eat lots, that is kind of the deal isn't it?

Morning boys. 51 here and headed to about 77.  It barely hit 70 yesterday.  Feeling fall like.  Watched the Vikes.  Real good at first and then faded away later on.  So switched to the Twins, they faded away too.  No big plans for the day.  I got up first to feed the pups and get coffee started.  We still have stuff to burn so the wife may want a fire today.  Works for me.  Helps get rid of brush.  Well have a good one.

I'm headed to Alex Shooting Park in a bit for Youth Outdoor Activity Day today. Should be around 2,600 kids there. That will keep us busy. Might be a smattering of rain in the mix too. Have great day all, later..... :happy1: :happy1:

Afternoon comrades! 52 at choretime heading for a high in the mid-70's. Finally got to a stopping point after coming off the road from Crop Tour Friday & showing sheep yesterday at the MN State Fair. Crop suffered immensely in the heat. Looked OK from Rochester to Waterloo last Saturday & was torched when we came back Thursday. We did well at the State Fair altho not as well as last year. We sold our best yearling ewe back in May and had to leave two of our best buck lambs at home due to soremouth so we weren't at full strength. The yearling was a big rip that would've been in the running. Had lots of help from kids that wanted to show a Cheviot. It's a challenge. If you can hang onto one w/o it getting loose you done good. I only had to set feet for the champion drive. The rest of the time I was just part of the pit crew. We had reserve champion ram and ewe with our January ewe and March buck lamb so the future looks bright.

It's caused by a virus. Can vaccinate for it but the success depends on choosing the right strain. There are numerous strains. We used to vaccinate but haven't for many years. The process was somewhat like the old smallpox vaccine that us old-timers have scars from. Usually if the animal has had soremouth, it's considered immune to that strain. Can make your own vaccine by picking off active scabs & putting them in distilled water. Best wear exam gloves or you can get orf yourself.
