Mornin all, we had 43 early & we may see 48. Had a light mist & a bunch of wind when I stepped out early too. The neighbor had .057" yday when we got his boat back to his place about 11. Barely enough to settle the dust on the gravels .......................but better than nothin. 'Bout time to go get a paper, have a good day.

Morning boys.  It is a cool windy day here.  I went to bed around 10 last night and it was spitting out.  This morning we had a hair over 3/4" of rain in the gauge.  We got that elm tree all cut up and stacked so of course that meant a fire.  LOL  Had a great time as it was a nice fall afternoon.  Sounds like you have great day planned Boar.  LOL   I think I will take it easy at least for awhile.  We shall see.

Morning fellers.  Wet windy bluster here. Brother and the 2 girls just left.

Blew out the waterlines yesterday  so that's done. With my son still here would like to knock a small dead pine down,  bring boat back from the little lake, and finish winterizing fish cleaning house.

Mornin peoples 50 here and windy, the leaves are dropping fast. Paper drank and coffee is read so looking to run some errands shortly.  The kid, I and pooches went out looking for roosters yesterday,  holy moly was the orange army out thick, by 7:30 the first 3 areas we went to were surrounded.  Finally did find a spot to walk but all seen were hens, Maisy did good on her first hunt, followed Remi at first but broke off eventually and did get a hen up, so she should just get better as the year goes. Anywho I best get at it.....See ya!!!

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 44 at choretime heading for a high in the low fitties. 20 mph NW winds gusting up to 40. Looks like the alien found the wife so both of us have the crud. No leaf watching today altho next weekend will likely be better anyway. At least I don't have to worry about the Mrs. chasing me around the house. Got all my errands done yesterday so will putz with some stuff. Like boar, it's always good to have goals.  :coffee:

Just got home from Emmaville. 10.4 mpg on Friday with a quartering headwind, 12.6 mpg coming home with a quartering tailwind. I was pulling the tandem trailer with the tractor and wood splitter on it. We did get all eight trees cut up, split and in the barn. Time for a snack, nap and then clean out truck and put toys away. Later...... :happy1: :happy1:

That's one of the things that always makes me laugh here after a rain gunner. Someone in town will come in & claim they had x amount of rain so their gauge has to be right. Even though they live on the other side of town. The gauges vary a lot too. A lot of folks here get free seed corn co. rain gauges or from some other outfit giving them away for free. The old adage that you get what you pay for likely applies.

I see the MN Dept. of Ag here in MN is looking for people to participate in their new weather station network. Like your neighbor's gauge, I believe it will measure the precip down to thousandths. One drawback (there are several) is these new stations still won't measure snowfall. That's something that has been crucial in recent years. Without it, estimating how much available soil moisture was impacted would be difficult. This last winter in particular, people were guessing the profile was nearly empty when in fact it was in our case, nearly 80% full down to 4'. That had a major impact when it started raining and didn't quit this spring. Drainage systems were overwhelmed much quicker than anticipated. The criteria to qualify for these weather stations is rather restrictive and given the fact the MN state govt. is involved, I am skeptical. And, it's all electronic. If that system goes down, and it will, you got nothin'. At least with a system involving manual gauges & observations, you're still covered.

We have 1 of our gauges on 1 of the hooks of our propane tank & that is completely out in the open. The other isn't 10' away but is on the handrail of the south steps of the cabin, so there's only about a 4' platform between it & the cabin. So, that 1 is kind of protected from anything coming from the west & even more so from anything coming from the north. It's pretty rare for ours to even be < .01" of each other, in fact.

Morning boys. 39 here and heading for 44 it says. Cool one today. I need to start thinking about firing up the ole wood boiler soon. We got home about 4:30 yesterday afternoon. The Grandson put a ring on his girlfriend's finger Saturday. That was exciting. Happy for them. Otherwise just getting ready to head off to the salt mines. Have a good one boys.

Mornin boys, 36 @ 1st peek here & we might see 46. Had a few spots where I used my wipers on our way to get the paper yday. With that wind, CR 35 was about 1/2 covered with leaves in those spots too. The neighbor is heading back to the metro for a few days tomorrow & with the mellower wind, I'm thinking we might see if we can't get the canopy off our lift this afternoon. Might not have enough water to use the lift much longer anyway. Gonna be pretty nice Wednesday through Monday, so the boat might wait a few more days. No more now, have a good day.

Morning boys.  We have 28 here and a lot of white on the grass and roofs.  I didn't dump my rain gauge and it was icy but not frozen.  No big plans for the day but I am sure something will attract my attention.  Always something to do.  Looks like a windy week too.  At least some days from the south so fishing won't be too uncomfortable here.  Well have a good one.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 28 at choretime heading for a high in the low 50's, maybe. Clouds aren't going to speed up the process much. Looking at the data from the Waseca reporting station, looks like it didn't get that cold for that long. That might explain why it really didn't look like a lot of stuff got torched all that much around the yard. There was no ice on the birdbath or the water tank either. We did harvest a bunch of maters & a dozen peppers so they were out of danger. After yesterday, there were a lot more leaves on the ground so picked up as many sticks as I could. Would rather not not have an errant one hit the vinyl siding once I commence to mulching leaves. As crispy, crackly dry as everything is, it should pretty much vaporize the leaves. Just need to be careful not to start something on fire. Still battling the alien. I have reestablished my position as the largest producer of snot in the free world. 🤧

Morning boys. 41 here with a stiff wind off of the lake again. That's keeps us warmer. Surprised the lake temp is down that far though with as warm as we have been. We are heading for 50 today it says.  Not much else here. Just getting ready to head to the salt mines. Have a good one boys.

We are getting sewer put in past our place so there's a bunch of big yellow and black toys going by and making large holes in the ground. I'm happy it's getting done now and not next spring. I'd like to get the driveway repaved and a complete frost cycle where it's getting dug up first will help. Have a great day everyone, later....... :happy1: :happy1:

Mornin gang, 33 here & we should see 50. Got the canopy off the lift & the water was so low that the boat barely came off the lift. So, we pulled the boat too. Need a couple things so we're headed to town today. Have a good day.

Morning boys.  Man I had a rude moment this morning.  The ground is all white.  I thought it was snow for a second or two.  A lot of frost!  32 now and may see 51.  I still have to take a friend out fishing yet this fall too.  Looks like windy all week but will have to pick a day and hope for the best.  Man the leaves are falling now.  Have a good one.

Looking at the thermometer and yard I’d say the skeeters and flys took a pretty good whipping this morning.

Yes Mike that’s part of the same project for Alex Township. 1.7 million of my tax dollars at work for 31 hook-ups.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 27 at choretime heading for a high in the low 50's. Should make it if the sun stays with us today. Only made the mid-40's here yesterday with the sky being overcast most of the day. More soil sampling on tap today. Looks like we'll start running out of places to go shortly as some fields are getting fertilized and worked before we can get to them. Part of it is this crop was a disappointment so they want to wipe the slate clean and make a fresh start for next year. The other part is cash grain farmers enjoy having free time on their hands. That's why they're cash grain farmers. Get it done so they can screw off until spring. The honest ones will admit it too.  :coffee:
